FUTURE READY: VOCATIONAL SKILLS VS RUDIMENTARY EDUCATION
I was called in to speak to students today at a prestigious school, the subject was life skills and what to expect in professional life. They were great kids from several countries but were totally oblivious to what’s happening in the world. I do not think that today the schools or even Universities are preparing the students for the future of work. Educational Institutions are more about money (Education Industry for God’s sake) as compared to creating leaders for tomorrow.
Don’t believe this statement, check out this article from a Harvard Professor who states that most Universities in the US would go “Bankrupt” in the next decades: (http://tinyurl.com/ycsg68kd)
Still, have doubts, well the Holy Google, Apple and other Tech “Giants for the time being” have started to hire Non-College Grads (http://tinyurl.com/pkvcmyh).
We do not have an “Educational Emergency” but rather have an Emergency of Non-Skilled and Youngsters with dementia entering the workforce. What’s required, immediately start vocational programs en mass to get these future leaders ready to face the challenges of tomorrow. There is no need to teach useless subjects that are and of no use, to them or to the world they are going to face.
